The current epidemic of the bombardment of information and misinformation throughout in the media recently as resulted to a confusion of external reality.  We now live in an age of 24 hour access to anxiety, a spoilt generation constantly seeking instantaneous gratification and pleasure. However, statistics show that more than ever that young people are on anti-depressants and are more addictive to things then anytime in the past.

For this series of works, Tareen deliberately uses the lino print medium as a metaphor for addiction, a repeated action of carving into the lino itself as well as the repeated process of printing from lino to paper. In contrast to this, in the exhibit are mixed media drawings that highlights the mistakes made and frustration of making the perfect picture. This body of work takes from the idea of 'trauma based mind control creates addiction'. The prints and drawings are visual bridges between the artist's personal sub consciousness and the relation to the public consciousness of the world.

Born and raised in East London, UK, Ali Tareen’s work uses a visual language that challenge, explores and questions the varied arenas of duality of the human condition. This involves, ego, power, sex, death and identity mixed with hints of irony, repulsion and sarcasm which is informed by memories and experiences of living in Prague and London. This theme of duality that is persistent throughout Tareen's oeuvre is inspired by his conflicting childhood and background, having parents from two very different cultures and mind-sets, Pakistan and England, the conflict of East and West..

Ali Tareen has had a number of successful solo and group exhibitions around Czech Republic, England and Spain. He obtained a 1st class (hons) in Art & Design at Central Saint Martins and up until recently had a studio at Karlin Studios for a number of years. He was commissioned by Wunderman, Prague in 2013 to produce artworks onto over 700 wine bottles as well as worked on several murals in London and featured artwork on Czech/French band Thoola in 2014.

Současná epidemie záplavy informací a dezinformacích v médiích vede ke zmatku ve vnímání reality. Žijeme ve věku neustálé úzkosti, zkažené generace která neustále hledá okamžité uspokojení a potěšení. Statistiky však ukazují, že mladí lidé užívají, více než kdy jindy, antidepresiva a jsou náchylnější k závislosti, než kdykoliv v minulosti.

V této sérii děl Tareen úmyslně používá linoryt jako metaforu pro závislost. Opakovaný proces vyřezávání do lina, stejně tak, jako opakovaný proces tisku z lina na papír.  V kontrastu k tomuto, se vystavují výkresy, které zdůrazňují udělané chyby a frustraci z touhy po vytvoření dokonalého obrazu. Tato kolekce vychází z myšlenky, že "mysl ovlivěná prožitými traumaty vytváří závislost". Linoryty a kresby jsou vizuálními mosty mezi podvědomím umělce a vztahem k veřejnému vědomí světa.

Narozený a vychovaný ve východním Londýně, UK,  Ali Tareen využívá ve své tvorbě vizuální jazyk, který vyzývá, zkoumá a zpochybňuje rozmanité oblasti duality lidské osobnosti. To zahrnuje ego, moc, sex, smrt a identitu smíchanou s ironií, odporem a sarkasmem, které jsou inspirovány vzpomínkami a zkušenostmi ze živatav Praze a Londýně. Toto téma duality, které je přítomné napříč Tareenovou tvorbou, vychází z jeho konfliktního dětství a zázemí. Jeho rodiče pochází ze dvou velmi odlišných kultur a myšlení, Pákistánu a Anglie. Konflikt mezi východem a západem.

Ali Tareen měl řadu úspěšných sólových a skupinových výstav po celé České republice, Anglii a Španělsku. Získal vyznamenání v Art & Design v Central Saint Martins a do nedávna měl několik let studio v Karlin Studios. V roce 2013 byl pověřen Wundermanem v Praze, aby umělecky zpracoval design více než 700 lahví na víno, pracoval na několika nástěnných malbách v Londýně a umělecky spolupracoval s česko francouzskou kapelou Thoola v roce 2014.

"Down is new up" je otevřeno veřejnosti po dobu 5 týdnů (06/06/17 - 10/07/17). Vernisáž se koná 06.06 od 19:00. dj: Kierastoboy.
